Royalties for Regions has contributed $10m to the Northam Senior High School to upgrade its Art Centre, administration and improve disability access for students, teachers and visitors.

The Hon Mia Davies opened the new facility recently and said “It is with great pride that I open the new Arts Centre and administration building, a project which will help the school continue delivering quality education outcomes.”

The project was funded through Royalties for Regions’ $100m Regional Schools Plan, responsible for upgrades and new facilities at thirteen of the State’s regional high schools.

The Arts Centre includes a foyer, gallery space, dance, silk screening and ceramics studio. It also includes a staff study area, equipment stores and toilets. The performing arts centre features 200 seats on retractable platforms, sprung floors, state of the art visual and sound technology.

“The arts centre will bolster the school’s already strong fine art, ceramic, music and performing arts culture” Ms Davies said.
