The Wheatbelt Development Commission has welcomed the opening of round five of the McGowan Government’s Regional Economic Development (RED) grants and encourages regional businesses and organisations to apply for funding towards local projects.
The State Government has allocated $5 million for round five from a total investment of $45.8 million over eight years (2018-19 to 2025-26) towards the RED Grants program for community-driven projects that support the economic growth and development of regional Western Australia.
Round five grants will have a focus on projects which increase or sustain jobs, expand or diversify industry, develop skills or capability, increase business productivity and attract new investment to the regions.
Through the previous four rounds of RED grants, more than $3.11 million has been approved to support 34 projects in the Wheatbelt region.
Wheatbelt Development Commission Chief Executive Officer Rob Cossart said the RED grants played an important role in the growth of Wheatbelt business and industries.
“Over the past four rounds, our RED grant recipients have played a significant role in diversifying the economic base of the Wheatbelt,” Mr Cossart said.
“These grants have boosted job creation, improved capability and stimulated the growth of local industries, bringing long-term benefits to our Wheatbelt communities and economy.”
“I encourage local businesses and organisations who have an innovative project to consider how RED grant funding could benefit their project.”
Applications are now open and close 12pm Wednesday 24 August 2022.
