Avon Industrial Park

Avon Industrial Park

The Avon Industrial Park (AIP) is a 473ha general industrial area located 18km east of Northam and 115km east of the Perth central business district.

DevelopmentWA retains the responsibility of planning, infrastructure provision and land sales. The WDC has supported the growth and development of the AIP for many years, with a dedicated board sub-committee providing strategic oversight of the park until 2023.

In recent years, the AIP has experienced strong sales growth, catalysed by CBH purchasing 105 ha to develop the new Meenaar grain receival site. CBH’s Meenaar development is supported by $6.5 million in funding from the Agricultural Supply Chain Improvement (ASCI) program to construct a new rail spur into the park. Stages 1 and 2 of the AIP are now almost completely sold (with only one lot remaining), and DevelopmentWA is progressing a Stage 3 subdivision.

WDC is working with key stakeholders including DevelopmentWA, Main Roads WA, the Shire of Northam and CBH to identify key enabling infrastructure requirements at the AIP and assist in their planning and delivery. Utilising $200,000 from the Regional Leverage Fund, WDC supported Main Roads in producing a design and costing for an upgrade of the park’s intersection on Great Eastern Highway. If funded, the upgraded intersection will allow safe access into the AIP for RAV 7 (36.5 metre) heavy vehicles, minimising interaction with passing traffic.

The AIP is home to a diverse range of industry sectors including agriculture, civil construction and earthworks, manufacturing, engineering and logistics.

WDC continues to work with DevelopmentWA in the rollout of the Stage 3 subdivision, including the potential for common user rail access and high speed telecommunications.
