Scholarships on offer for emerging Aboriginal leaders

April 15, 2022

The Wheatbelt Development Commission is once again partnering with Leadership WA to offer emerging Aboriginal leaders within the region the chance to harness their leadership skills through the Wheatbelt Development Commission Aboriginal Leadership Scholarship.

Two scholarships are available for the next generation of Aboriginal Wheatbelt leaders seeking to build their leadership capability in the June intake of Leadership WA’s Rising Leadership program.

Ideal for mid-level professionals, the six-month experiential program fosters new thinking and perspectives of leadership and features insights from Western Australian leaders across private, community and government sectors over 12 experience days in Perth.

Participants are eligible to apply for the scholarships if they are:

  • Of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
  • Living and working in the Wheatbelt region
  • Early to mid-level in their career
  • Passionate about creating a positive impact and difference to their community.

Scholarship applications close Friday 15 April 2022. For more information and to apply, visit the Leadership WA website or view the scholarship flyer.

Acknowledgement of Country

The Wheatbelt Development Commission respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the lands that we live and work on: the family and clan groups of the Ballardong, Goreng, Gubrun, Kalamaia, Njaki-Njaki, Whadjuk, Wiilman, Wudjari, Yued and Yamatji People of the Noongar Nation, their Elders past present and emerging.

We acknowledge their living culture and important role in the sustainable economic development and prosperity of the Wheatbelt region. Led by Noongar wisdom and philosophy, we are committed to embracing opportunities for Aboriginal economic development, entrepreneurship and wealth creation; being a voice of change and reconciliation; supporting sustainable and healthy communities; and empowering future leaders.
