The Wheatbelt plays an important role in Western Australia’s economy, and in national and global food security. It is home to a network of diverse communities, rich cultural heritage, unique landscapes and biodiversity. Across generations, the Wheatbelt has demonstrated resilience and abundant potential.
The Wheatbelt boasts dozens of historic and picturesque towns, communities, and landscapes that offer a variety of coastal, peri-urban and rural lifestyles.
The region is underpinned by a growing resource sector and an established agricultural production industry with increasing diversification across manufacturing, construction, logistics and freight and other emerging industries.
The Wheatbelt is emerging as a region of innovation. Its proximity to Perth, available land and significant infrastructure see the Wheatbelt poised to build on economic opportunities into the future.
